Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wilcox County walked away with it. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Lanier County Bulldogs on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Johnny Nutt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wilcox County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another was Deacon McDuffie, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Wilcox County's record now sits at 27-8. As for Lanier County, they moved to 31-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
