Softball Recap: Blue Springs South Wins Going Away Against Smith-Cotton

It was a proper cat-fight when Blue Springs South challenged Smith-Cotton on Friday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Tigers. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Blue Springs South got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Gillen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Gillen a new career-high in doubles (two). Riley Hollister was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Blue Springs South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Blue Springs South's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Smith-Cotton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.
