Soccer Recap: Rio Mesa Takes a Loss

Rio Mesa lost against Oxnard back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rio Mesa Spartans fell just short of the Oxnard Yellowjackets by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 69th).

Rio Mesa has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which is still a better percentage than their 2-12-5 record this season. As for Oxnard, they pushed their record up to 13-1-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Rio Mesa wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Santa Barbara on the 31st. Oxnard has also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Dos Pueblos on the 31st.
