Basketball Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Scripps Ranch Falcons
Olympian has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Scripps Ranch Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Last Wednesday, Olympian was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Titans.
Olympian might have lost, but man, Asia Darcuiel was a machine: she scored 36 points along with two steals. That was a full 69.2% of Olympian's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Agpaoa, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They strolled past Christian with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. Given Scripps Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Patriots are ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olympian's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Scripps Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.
