Softball Recap: Walton's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Marist War Eagles. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Walton got a massive performance out of Julia Rutledge, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Julianna McNeeley, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Walton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Walton's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Marist, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Walton will take on North Cobb at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Marist, they will square off against Pope at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
