Preview: Don Lugo Conquistadores vs. Montclair Cavaliers
Don Lugo and Montclair are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Don Lugo Conquistadores will head out on the road to challenge the Montclair Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Don Lugo is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Don Lugo suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 58-33 loss at the hands of Ontario.
Despite the defeat, Don Lugo had strong showings from Sarah Magadan, who scored 16 points along with five steals, and Issabela Medina, who scored four points along with eight rebounds. Medina hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Montclair strolled past Chaffey with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 44-30. The win made it back-to-back wins for Montclair.
Don Lugo has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Montclair, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
Don Lugo won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Montclair 50-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Don Lugo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
