Football Game Preview: Albert Lea Tigers vs. Worthington Trojans + Official Tickets

The Albert Lea Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Worthington Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Worthington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Albert Lea, who comes in off a win.

Albert Lea will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up ten points last Friday, then bounced right back against Belle Plaine on Wednesday. Albert Lea blew past Belle Plaine 54-7. Albert Lea might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Brecken Wacholz had a dynamite game, rushing for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 12 yards and one TD. Easton Schewe made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Albert Lea's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Payton Earl, Sam McGill, and Jaxson Sargent, who each picked up one sack apiece. Schewe got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Worthington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a blow against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center], falling 48-0.

Albert Lea pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Worthington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Albert Lea against Worthington when the teams last played back in September, as the squad secured a 42-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
