Football Recap: Grant Kozisek's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Butler over Mccool Junction

If East Butler was feeling good fresh off their 50-20 takedown of Omaha Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 30-22 to the McCool Junction Mustangs on Friday. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 14-8 in the first quarter.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Kozisek, who rushed for 123 yards and one score.

Leading McCool Junction to victory were Carson McDonald and Colby Yates. McDonald threw for 133 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes, while Yates picked up 115 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, East Butler fell to 3-1. As for McCool Junction, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Butler will face off against Shelby-Rising City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for McCool Junction, they will head out to square off against Mead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
