Basketball Recap: Harvard-Westlake Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Harvard-Westlake can now relate to. They took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairmont Prep Huskies on Thursday. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.

Fairmont Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maria Mejia out in front who shot 63% from the field en route to 14 points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Aldeguer, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds.

Harvard-Westlake's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. As for Fairmont Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season.

Harvard-Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fairmont Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-55 defeat against Windward on the 8th.
