Baseball Game Preview: Mays Raiders vs. Pace Academy Knights

Mays is 0-4 against Pace Academy since February of 2020 but things could change on Monday. The Mays Raiders will be playing at home against the Pace Academy Knights at 6:00 p.m. Mays has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Mays is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They lost 25-1 to Pace Academy.

For Pace Academy's part, they let Dylan Nelson and Tyson Dawson run wild. Nelson scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Dawson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Nelson a new career-high in RBI (three). Alston Mallis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Pace Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Pace Academy, bringing their record for this year to 5-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. As for Mays, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mays has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pace Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
