Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 16-3 to the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seagulls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Saturday.

Madison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Dickey, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That hit marked the first that Dickey has got this season.

As for Old Orchard Beach, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

On Old Orchard Beach's side, Mathew Charron was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Charron has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Trot Moody was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Holden Lepauloue was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Madison will venture away from home to square off against Lisbon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Old Orchard Beach, they will head out to face off against York at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
