Dewey came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Adair Warriors by a score of 7-2. This was payback for the Bulldoggers, who suffered a 12-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kyla Overton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 matchups.

In other batting news, Londyn Bond was excellent, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Dewey hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.

Dewey's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Adair, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Looking ahead, Dewey will be taking part in a tournament against Perkins-Tryon at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Demons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.56 runs per game on average), something the Bulldoggers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Adair, they will take on Cleveland at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
