Recap: Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers vs. Washington Prexies
The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Washington 64-40. Considering Chartiers-Houston has won three contests by more than 23 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Chartiers-Houston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allison Wingard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Wingard set a new season high mark in blocks with four. Mia Mitrik was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Washington lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olivia Woods, who scored 13 points. Woods scored a full 32.5% of Washington's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taraysia Finley, who scored 11 points.
Chartiers-Houston's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. As for Washington, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chartiers-Houston will take on Weir at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Weir has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Washington, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Fort Cherry at 1:00 p.m.
