Football Game Preview: St. Pius X Panthers vs. St. Thomas Catholic Eagles

St. Pius X hasn't had much luck against St. Thomas Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. St. Pius X will be strutting in after a win while St. Thomas Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Pius X is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 47-6 victory over KIPP Sunnyside. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Trey Finney produced another solid performance picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also punching in one score on the ground. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 61 yards.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when St. Thomas Catholic took on Kinkaid two weeks ago. The Eagles lost to the Falcons on the road by a 21-6 margin. The loss put an end to the Eagles' undefeated start to the season.

St. Pius X will have to contain Nate Tidwell as he made an impact in St. Thomas Catholic's last game. He picked up 119 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Thomas Catholic fell to 2-1. As for St. Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

St. Pius X was taken down by St. Thomas Catholic 48-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Panthers, Roy Thomas Jenkins (who threw for 237 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards) won't be suiting up this time.
