Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. North Penn-Liberty Mountie
The Athens Wildcats were the 52-30 winner over the North Penn-Liberty Mountie when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Athens fell 36-29 to North Penn-Liberty on Tuesday. Athens' loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
North Penn-Liberty was led to victory by Tierney Patterson and Haley Litzelman. Patterson scored five points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, while Litzelman dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Litzelman is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Athens now has a losing record at 2-3. As for North Penn-Liberty, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will take on Varsity Opponent at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Penn-Liberty, they will head out on the road to face off against Cowanesque Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
