Basketball Recap: Buckingham Charter Knights vs. Valley Christian Lions
The Buckingham Charter Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Valley Christian 48-12. While losing is never fun, Buckingham Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1266th, while the Lions are ranked 376th).
It was another big night for Mariah Contreras, who scored 17 points for Valley Christian. Contreras is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Jackson-Brown, who scored ten points.
Buckingham Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Buckingham Charter will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Faith Christian is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Valley Christian, they will face off against the Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
