Recap: Sotomayor Wolves vs. Maywood Academy Nighthawks
There's no place like home for the Sotomayor Wolves, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 33-16 win over Maywood Academy on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Sotomayor, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Angie Mendoza was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Ashley Castillo was another key contributor, scoring three points along with seven steals.
The victory got Sotomayor back to even at 8-8. As for Maywood Academy, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sotomayor will take on Marquez at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Marquez: 25.3, Sotomayor: 29.1) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Maywood Academy, they will be playing at home against Maywood CES at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maywood CES is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
