Basketball Game Preview: Marana Tigers vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

The Marana Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Marana is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Buena, falling 71-47.

Despite the loss, Marana got top-tier performance from Marquez Roebuck, who went 9-for-19 to rack up 21 points and six steals. Roebuck is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Sean Roebuck, who posted three points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Mountain View waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Caballeros by a score of 54-45.

Mountain View's win came from a few key players Marana will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rocky Flores, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 13 points. Chase Reidhead also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Marana's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything went Marana's way against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Marana made off with a 66-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
