Baseball Game Preview: Winnebago Indians vs. Lena-Winslow Panthers

The Winnebago Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Lena-Winslow Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Winnebago's victory against Rockford Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Royals 8-7. The win was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won four contests in a row.

Meanwhile, Lena-Winslow narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pearl City 4-3.

Koby Kearns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lena-Winslow's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Gerber, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Winnebago's record is now 15-8. As for Lena-Winslow, their record now sits at 17-2.

Winnebago might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Lena-Winslow when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
