Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Addy Simmons and Libby Mitchell Lead Amherst to Victory

Amherst hadn't done well against Broken Bow recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Broncos managed a 39-34 victory over the Indians. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 59-30 loss the last time these two teams met.

Amherst was led to victory by Libby Mitchell and Addy Simmons. Mitchell dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Simmons posted four points along with 15 boards and six assists. Those 11 rebounds gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brynley Mattox, who earned five points and nine boards.

Amherst smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Broken Bow still got an impressive performance from Charlee Myers, who had 14 points.
