Football Game Preview: Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades vs. Burwell Longhorns

The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades will take on the Burwell Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Chambers/Wheeler Central took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 38-18 margin over Palmer. The Renegades might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Trey Blackmore and Michael Jesse were among the main playmakers for Chambers/Wheeler Central as the former rushed for 73 yards and two TDs on only six carries and the latter rushed for 68 yards and one score. Blackmore didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made six total tackles.

Chambers/Wheeler Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Palmer to a completion percentage of just 42.9%. The Renegades have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.59 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.59 in their last three games.

Chambers/Wheeler Central's defense didn't let Jackson Friedrichsen, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jesse.

Meanwhile, Burwell played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-35 to Anselmo-Merna. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory snapped Chambers/Wheeler Central's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for Burwell, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
