Softball Recap: Woonsocket Comes Up Short

Woonsocket had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it eight. They lost 23-1 to the West Warwick Wizards. If the Villa Novans were looking for revenge after losing 19-0 to the Wizards when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for West Warwick, they now have a winning record of 5-4. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

For West Warwick's part, they got a massive performance out of Sarah Payan, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Payan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Naveah DeCosta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBI.

Woonsocket has already played their next contest, a 15-1 loss against Lincoln on the 28th. As for West Warwick, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-1 defeat against Portsmouth on the 28th.
