Softball Recap: Gretna East Falls Short Against Ranked Elkhorn North

Gretna East faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Griffins fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 2-1. The Griffins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 9-0.

Gretna East got a good showing from Hadley McDowell, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits McDowell has allowed since back in August.

On the hitting side, Gretna East saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amanda Weis, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Gretna East's defeat dropped their record down to 18-13. As for Elkhorn North, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Gretna East nor Elkhorn North have any future games scheduled.
