Football Game Preview: St. Thomas More Cougars vs. Westgate Tigers + How To Watch

St. Thomas More is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to square off against the Westgate Tigers at 7:00 p.m. St. Thomas More will be strutting in after a win while Westgate will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Thomas More is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Neville, who was ranked seventh at the time (St. Thomas More was ranked sixth). The Cougars secured a 27-23 W over the Tigers on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Westgate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 28-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of Teurlings Catholic. The Tigers were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Rebels in the fourth quarter 15-7.

Westgate's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for St. Thomas More, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything came up roses for St. Thomas More against Westgate when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
