Recap: Upper Merion Area Vikings vs. Phoenixville Phantoms
The Upper Merion Area Vikings lost against the Phoenixville Phantoms on January 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Upper Merion Area took a hard 47-32 fall against the Phantoms. Upper Merion Area has not had much luck with the Phantoms recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Upper Merion Area lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Smith. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Maiden, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Upper Merion Area smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Upper Merion Area's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Phoenixville, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upper Merion Area will take on the Falcons at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Phoenixville is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Indians at 12:30 p.m. on January 27th. Upper Perkiomen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 558th, while the Phantoms are ranked 226th).
