Basketball Recap: Hitchcock County Comes Up Short

Hitchcock County lost against Rawlins County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons were beaten by the Buffaloes 74-28. The Falcons were down 52-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Asia Homma and Kalissa Hagan certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Homma almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards, while Hagan posted 12 points. Homma is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Rawlins County was led to victory by Kayte Shively and Camden Franklin. Shively dropped a double-double with 33 points and 13 boards, while Franklin went 9-for-15 to rack up 24 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the most points Franklin has posted since back in January. Ayla Moses was another key player, putting up five points.

Hitchcock County's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Rawlins County, their record is now 2-3.

Hitchcock County and Rawlins County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Falcons see the court they'll take on Southern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2026. As for Rawlins County, their break will end when they face Trego at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
