Basketball Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. Los Gatos Wildcats

The Menlo-Atherton Bears will square off against the Los Gatos Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Menlo-Atherton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Evergreen Valley. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Meanwhile, Los Gatos entered their tilt with Salinas on Thursday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went their way against the Cowboys as they made off with a 56-35 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Cowboys are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Menlo-Atherton's victory bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Los Gatos, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.

Menlo-Atherton and Los Gatos were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, but Menlo-Atherton came up empty-handed after a 47-46 defeat. Can Menlo-Atherton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
