Softball Recap: Clarinda's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Clarinda dropped their record down to 19-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 6-3 to the Lewis Central Titans. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

As for Lewis Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For Lewis Central's part, Emerson Coziahr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. Coziahr has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubree Davis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Addison Koch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, Clarinda will venture away from home to face off against Lenox at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lewis Central, they will host Sioux City North at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
