Softball Recap: Lincoln East Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Kearney

Lincoln East faced Kearney in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bearcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Nevaeh Coleman and Olivia Mays stepped up to the plate in a big way. Coleman went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Mays went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. Coleman has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Bliemeister, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Lincoln East and nudges their season record down to 9-5. As for Kearney, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Kearney beat Lincoln East by a score of 12-3 later that day.
