Softball Recap: Chase County Longhorns vs. Cozad Haymakers

Chase County extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-17. They came up short against the Cozad Haymakers, falling 14-0. If the Longhorns were looking for revenge after losing 24-7 to the Haymakers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cozad, they pushed their record up to 14-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Haymakers, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Cozad's part, Mallory Munster looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Munster a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Aubrey Hammerlun was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Addison Howerter also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Coming up, Chase County will head out on the road to challenge Chadron at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cozad does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
