Basketball Recap: Palma Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

On Saturday, the Palma Chieftains were able to grind out a solid victory over the North Salinas Vikings, taking the game 44-32. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Vikings are ranked 1159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palma pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.7 points per game. As for North Salinas, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palma will host Seaside at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Palma is facing Seaside at the right time seeing as Seaside is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for North Salinas, they will welcome Pacific Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Salinas has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
