Football Recap: Los Lunas Runs Past Piedra Vista + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Los Lunas walked away with it. They snuck past the Piedra Vista Panthers with a 28-24 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Jagger Casillias continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Those 148 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Los Lunas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piedra Vista only rushed for 126.

When it comes to explaining why Piedra Vista lost, don't look at Amasi Griego. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, and also caught one score. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 74 yards.

Los Lunas' record now sits at 8-3. As for Piedra Vista, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Los Lunas will head out on the road to face off against Las Cruces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bulldawgs have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Piedra Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
