Baseball Game Preview: Tucker Tigers vs. North Springs Spartans

The Tucker Tigers will venture away from home to take on the North Springs Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Tucker's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Lithonia 15-0. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Eli Walker was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Tucker is 2-1 when Walker allows one or fewer hits, but 6-17 otherwise. Walker was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Robert Robinson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Tucker: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Waller, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Tucker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North Springs won against Clarkston on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Spartans didn't even let the Angoras on the board, marking the Spartans' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

North Springs' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-15. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Tucker, their record is now 8-18.
