Baseball Game Preview: Moore Mustangs vs. Southern Trojans

Moore is 2-8 against Southern since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mustangs will face off against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Moore has given up an average of 15.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Moore couldn't beat Jeffersontown on Wednesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the fourth inning. The Mustangs lost 15-8 to the Chargers.

Matthew Mattinez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Jackson Lewis also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Southern came up short against Spencer County on Friday, falling 18-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost five in a row.

Moore's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-19.

Moore suffered a grim 25-1 defeat to Southern in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
