Softball Recap: Cartersville Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Cartersville came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Woodland Wildcats as they made off with an 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hurricanes, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Presley Crabbe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Zoie Shiflett and Addi Burns did most of the damage at the plate: Shiflett went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Burns went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Shiflett has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Jo Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cartersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Cartersville's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Woodland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Cartersville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Woodland: the pair will be back at it again later today.
