Basketball Game Preview: Central Mountain Wildcats vs. South Williamsport Mountaineers

The Central Mountain Wildcats will head out to face off against the South Williamsport Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Central Mountain will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Williamsport, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Central Mountain managed a 56-52 victory over Williamsport on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 65 points the game before, South Williamsport was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They took a hard 39-20 fall against Bloomsburg. The Mountaineers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Central Mountain pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for South Williamsport, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Central Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over South Williamsport when the teams last played back in January, winning 63-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was South Williamsport's Abby Akers, who went 8 for 20 on her way to 28 points and five rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Central Mountain still be able to contain Akers? There's only one way to find out.
