Basketball Recap: Pittsburg Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jaqueline Martinez and Yariah Asidanya

After flying high against Deer Valley last Friday, Pittsburg came back down to earth. The match between the Pittsburg Pirates and the Antioch Panthers didn't end well, with the Pittsburg Pirates falling 64-50. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Pittsburg's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Yariah Asidanya and Jaqueline Martinez. Asidanya went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points and five steals, while Martinez posted 20 points and five rebounds. Asidanya has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayana Bell, who earned nine points and eight boards.

Pittsburg's record is now 7-11. As for Antioch, their record now sits at 8-10.

Pittsburg will square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pittsburg is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Antioch, they will face off against Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
