Preview: Live Oak Acorns vs. Santa Clara Bruins
Live Oak is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Santa Clara is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Live Oak Acorns will be home for the holidays to greet the Santa Clara Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Live Oak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 599th, while Santa Clara is ranked 130th).
Last Saturday, Live Oak was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 30-26 to El Camino. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Live Oak has scored all season.
Live Oak's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kathliyah Clement, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Rian Henderson who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Clement continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, Santa Clara scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Leigh as Santa Clara made off with a 66-45 win.
Live Oak's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Santa Clara, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
