Softball Recap: Oak Hill Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Oak Hill Academy extended their postseason success on Saturday against North Delta. They had just enough and edged out the Green Wave 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Kaelyn Pennington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oak Hill Academy got a big performance out of Mary Crosley Coker, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Coker has posted since back in August. Sally Rhea Chaney was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oak Hill Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Oak Hill Academy now has a winning record of 12-11. As for North Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Oak Hill Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against Kirk Academy on the 27th. North Delta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
