Basketball Recap: Mount Miguel Comes Up Short

Mount Miguel lost against El Cajon Valley back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mount Miguel Matadors were dealt a 60-28 defeat at the hands of the El Cajon Valley Braves. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Asia Marie Dixon was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds for El Cajon Valley. Dixon also grabbed five steals, which is notable because El Cajon Valley is undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kiyara Millice, who made all 5 shots she took to post 11 points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

Mount Miguel's record is now 4-18. As for El Cajon Valley, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Miguel will challenge West Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Hills will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mount Miguel surely won't give up without a fight. As for El Cajon Valley, they will face off against Valhalla at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Cajon Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
