Softball Game Preview: Doniphan Dons vs. Jackson Fighting Indians

Doniphan is 0-3 against Jackson since September of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Dons will welcome the Fighting Indians at 4:30 p.m. Doniphan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Doniphan's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Sikeston 19-0. The victory continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Kenzee Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Doniphan got a massive performance out of Bella Monaghan, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Tara Davis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Doniphan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .903. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Jackson faced Chaffee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Fighting Indians lost 8-1 to the Red Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Fighting Indians have suffered since September 5th.

Doniphan's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.
