Basketball Recap: Stagg Delta Kings vs. McNair Eagles

The Stagg Delta Kings waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They walked away with a 59-51 victory over McNair. That's another feather in the cap for Stagg, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Leading Stagg to victory were Destiny Martinez and Jameelah Pharms. Martinez dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Pharms scored 20 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Pharms has scored at least a third of Stagg's points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Ogle, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds.

Stagg's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for McNair, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11.

Stagg will take on the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Linden comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for McNair, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Christian Brothers presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in California (the Falcons are ranked 107th, while the Eagles are ranked 499th).
