Football Recap: Isaac Rabago's Menacing Defense Leads Lincoln North Star over Grand Island

If Grand Island wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lincoln North Star, they should've done a better job of containing Tyrell Chatman. The Navigators enjoyed a cozy 27-13 win over the Islanders on Friday with plenty of help from Chatman, who rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 90 yards and one TD on only five passes. He didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended five passes.

Lincoln North Star didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Isaac Rabago, Kobe Allen, and Landon Steiger picked up one apiece. Rabago also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 16. Lincoln North Star got some further help from Marcus Wynne: he picked up two sacks and made ten total tackles (5.0 for loss).

The victory made it two in a row for Lincoln North Star and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 13 points in those games. As for Grand Island, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Lincoln North Star has already played their next game, a 35-10 victory against Millard West on the 17th. As for Grand Island, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 55-20 win against Bellevue East on the 16th.
