Eau Claire extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-15. They lost 17-3 to the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-0 defeat on Tuesday.
As for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-14. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's part, Eli Mcloughlin and Bradyn Harper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mcloughlin pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Harper pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Our Lady of the Lake Catholic is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-13 otherwise. At the plate, Mcloughlin got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Harper went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those five stolen bases gave Mcloughlin a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Williamson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since May 1st. Anthony Jasheway was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eau Claire will face off against Michigan Lutheran at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, they will square off against Marcellus at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
