Recap: Beaumont United Timberwolves vs. West Brook Bruins
The Beaumont United Timberwolves stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 84-50 victory over West Brook on the road. Given Beaumont United's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while West Brook is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Clarence Payia, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Ashton Green was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the loss, West Brook saw an underclassman step up: Elijah Garrett scored 16 points. Garrett hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Simmons, who scored nine points.
The win made it two in a row for Beaumont United and bumps their season record up to 26-3. As for West Brook, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-10.
Beaumont United will take on Humble at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Beaumont United's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Humble has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for West Brook, they will challenge King at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Brook is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
