League recap: Bowdon's McDaniel delivers best pitching performance from past week

5-AA league recap: 3/27/13

5-AA's top pitcher this week was Bowdon's Tyler Mcdaniel. He won one game and struck out 11 batters.

Jordan outpaced the rest of the league this week, as its three total wins led the league. The Red Jackets beat Kendrick 11-1 and Manchester 4-3.

Bowdon put four runners on via walks this week, fewest in the league, but the Cherokees' staff still boasts the league's best control, having issued only seven bases on balls over six total innings.

Ben Vance's .600 batting average (3-for-5) for Bowdon was the best in the league this week. For the season, he's hitting .323, good for 11th in the league. Vance has ten hits total this season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to McDaniel, who turned in 11 Ks for the Red Devils. With 29 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.



McDaniel led Bowdon to a win on March 19, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat Temple, 12-0. Over his six innings pitched he allowed zero runs on three hits.

Bailey Cheatwood was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during the Red Devils' 12-0 win over the Tigers. He went 3-for-5 and scored zero runs.
