Recap: West Shamokin Wolves vs. River Valley Panthers
This season hasn't been kind to the West Shamokin Wolves, who are still winless after their fourth game. They were the victim of a rough 60-34 loss at the hands of River Valley on Thursday. West Shamokin has struggled against River Valley recently, as their contest on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Ava Persichetti was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists for River Valley. The matchup was Persichetti's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rylee Kitner, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
West Shamokin's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for River Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
West Shamokin will be home for the holidays to greet Marion Center at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion Center is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for River Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Greater Johnstown at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Greater Johnstown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Valley in Pennsylvania (Greater Johnstown is ranked 115th, while River Valley is ranked 231st).
