Basketball Game Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Piedmont Hills Pirates

The Leigh Longhorns will head out to challenge the Piedmont Hills Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Leigh is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since January 6, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Silver Creek by a score of 56-54. While the Longhorns didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 15-10 in the first quarter.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Catalina Williams, who posted 12 points and six assists. Those six assists gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Wallace, who had nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 58-54 to Alisal. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost three in a row.

Piedmont Hills' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Leigh, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Leigh beat Piedmont Hills 53-44 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leigh since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
