Softball Recap: Bloomingdale Drops Season-High Score on Berkeley Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bloomingdale). They blew past the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers 15-2 on Friday. Considering the Bulls have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalie Cable was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Arianna Cerezo was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sailor Quave, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Bloomingdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Bloomingdale's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Berkeley Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Bloomingdale will welcome Strawberry Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berkeley Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Academy of the Holy Names at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berkeley Prep's pitchers better be ready for this one: Academy of the Holy Names has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
