Soccer Game Preview: Oberlin vs. Firelands

Oberlin hasn't had much luck against Firelands recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Phoenix will host the Falcons at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Firelands will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Oberlin extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Phoenix's defense stepped up to hand Keystone a 6-0 shutout. Oberlin's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Their offense was hitting Keystone from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Mateo Nemes led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Firelands got the win against Wellington on Wednesday by a conclusive 5-1. Given Firelands' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Wellington are ranked 270th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Firelands' victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Oberlin, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
